Two calf trials were conducted at a commercial Twin Falls, Idaho calf facility
from June 13 to August 25, 2017 to measure weight gain, body frame
development and observable health differences.
Trial # 1
50 newborn Holstein calves were split equally into two treatment groups; the Excell™ group was fed 5 CC of Excell™ liquid per day in the milk and the control group was fed milk without Excell™.
Trial #2
78 newborn Holstein calves were split into two groups; 26 animals were fed 5 CC of Excell™ liquid per day in the milk and the 52 in the control group were fed milk without Excell™.
Summary:
This was a very well managed calf facility with good nutritional and health programs in place.
In both trials, Excell™ increased average daily gain resulting in significant improvements in total gain of (5.6% and 5.2%) in trial one and two respectively over the control.
Frame development was also improved (length and height). Frame development (length) was also significant in the Excell™ group at 1.76 and .9 inches longer in trial one and two respectively and height was significantly greater in trial one.
