What is Excell™?
Excell™ is an all-natural lactobacillus fermentation product containing prebiotic components and bioactive metabolytes produced during the fermentation process.
How does Excell™ work?
The unique profile of bioactive compounds in Excell™ supports microbial populations in the digestive system of the rumen and intestine and helping the digestive system become more efficient in nutrient digestion and adsorption.
What is meant by rumen optimization?
When the rumen microflora population is optimum, cattle are more efficient in their digestion and adsorption of essential nutrients for gain and performance. Excell™ can help maintain desired feed intakes by optimizing rumen function on high grain diets. Research has shown that higher propionate and lower lactate VFA levels improves energy utilization and reduces incidence of bloat and acidosis.
How does Excell™ help develop a “healthy rumen”?
The organic components of Excell™ help optimize the rumen by supporting high populations of rumen microflora and most importantly the fiber digestors. This benefit creates maximum rouphage digestibility and dry matter intake which help maintain a more ideal rumen pH.
Is Excell™ a probiotic?
No, the lactobacillus cells in Excell™ are not viable. The value of Excell™ is created during lactobacillus fermentation of organic compounds and bioactive metabolites which benefit the rumen and intestinal microbial population. This stimulation creates optimum rumen and intestinal function.
Is Excell™ a prebiotic?
Excell™ has prebiotic activity in that it can induce the growth and activity of beneficial microorganisms. However, it is not a non-digestible fiber that passes undigested through the upper part of the intestine as in the traditional prebiotic definition….…the newer term for Excell™ type products is eubiotic, a product that induces a healthy balance of the micro-flora in the gastrointestinal tract.
How is Excell™ produced?
A proprietary Lactobacillus strain is grown in stainless steel fermenters to a high cell mass and allowed to ferment producing organic bioactive compounds which benefit animals’ digestive systems.
What happens if I overdose Excell™
Excell™ is very safe. Feeding very high levels of Excell™ (over 5 times recommend levels may result in minor looseness of the manure.
How much Excell™ should be fed:
Beef- weaning, backgrounding and receiver cattle……5 grams per head per day
How does Excell™ compare to yeast products?
· Excell™ provides additional benefits over yeast products:
o Provides greater support of optimal microbial populations in both the rumen and intestine
o Rumen VFA profile supports rumen development and efficiency
o An all-natural product providing performance benefits similar to Rumensin and Bovatec
Is Excell™ documented by research
Yes, Excell™ has been tested at the University of Idaho compared to Bovatec and Rumensin as well as an in vitro study to compare volatile fatty acid levels to Rumensin.
· Improved ADG and total gain over Bovatec
· Improved ADG and total gain over Rumensin
· Improved butyrate, isobutyrate, valine and isovaline
Is Excell™ soluble in water?
Excell™ is mostly soluble. The lactobacillus cells are dispersible in water.
At what PH is Excell™ stable?
Excell™ has a pH of 3-3.3 which maintains stability.
What is the shelf life of Excell™?
Shelf life is listed at two years.
Is there anything living in Excell™?
No, the low pH keeps eliminates all microbial activity.
Is Excell™ produced under Good Manufacturing Practices?
Yes. The ingredients in Excell™ are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), and are manufactured using current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs).
Is the lactobacillus strain in Excell™ FDA approved?
Lactobacillus acidophilus has been reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration, Center for Veterinary Medicine, and found to present no safety concerns when used in direct-fed microbial products.
